SANA Founder Kylie Jane shares ways she's supporting her body this autumn
Hey Sanalites!
Move over iced matcha latte’s, hello warming collagen turmeric lattes!
As a sun-loving South African, winter has never been my favourite season, but for some reason this year I’m welcoming winter with open arms. The idea of snuggly scarves, (more) hot beverages and cosy nights in is exactly what my body is calling for.
Here are some ways I’m supporting my body through the seasonal transition:
Electrolytes
Electrolytes aren’t just for summer - they’re your year-round allies for staying hydrated, energised, and balanced, especially as we embrace the cooler seasons. Staying hydrated isn’t just a warm-weather priority - our bodies need proper fluid balance year-round, especially with the drier indoor heat and colder air. Here’s why electrolytes are key, even in the cooler seasons:
- Hydration Matters: Dry air, both indoors and out, can lead to dehydration even when we’re not sweating as much. Electrolytes like sodium and potassium help keep you hydrated from the inside out, ensuring your body functions at its best.
- Immune Support: As the season shifts, so does the stress on our immune systems. Electrolytes help support cellular health, which is critical for keeping your immune system strong during autumn’s cold and flu season.
- Nourishing Skin from Within: Cooler weather can leave your skin feeling dry and tight. By staying hydrated with electrolytes, you can help nourish and maintain your skin’s moisture naturally.
- Energy and Muscle Health: Whether you’re working out or just staying active in daily life, electrolytes help support energy levels and prevent muscle cramps, which can still occur even when it’s chilly outside.
- Balancing the Body: Just because it’s cooler doesn’t mean your body isn’t losing electrolytes. Replenishing them is essential to maintaining balance and supporting overall wellness, no matter the season.
- Mental Clarity and Calm Focus: Electrolytes like magnesium play a role in brain function and focus, helping to combat that sluggish feeling we can sometimes experience as the days get shorter.
Nourishing skincare
At SANA we believe glowing skin begins within. In addition to prioritising protein and collagen, healthy fats and a rainbow-variety of fruits and veggies for ingestible skincare, I love incorporating our SANA Gua Sha into my evening skincare routine to promote circulation, reduce redness and puffiness, and help my skin feel plump and radiant.
Green & orange foods
Green and orange foods are powerful allies for autumn wellness, supporting both body and mind during seasonal transitions. Green vegetables like kale, spinach, and broccoli provide a rich source of vitamins and minerals to boost immunity, while also helping detoxify the body. Orange foods, such as sweet potatoes, pumpkins, and carrots, are loaded with beta-carotene, supporting skin health and giving your body a natural energy lift. Incorporating these vibrant, seasonal foods into your meals not only nourishes from within but also promotes radiant skin and overall vitality.
Take care of your body and mind this season Sanalite!
With love,
Kylie Jane
